Hi there! Welcome to my blog!

Well hello there! 

I hope that this blog will be the start of something new - in me and you, my fellow reader.

Let me start with who I am: I’m a twenty something South African woman (my mother always told me to never reveal my age), and I love meeting new friends and surrounding myself with likeminded people.  The purpose of this blog I suppose isn't to force God down anyone’s throat (man, I hated that when people tried doing it to me), but to share my inside thoughts, feelings, experiences and encounters with my God. Now I know that when the mention of a higher entity enters a conversation, most people tend to flee. But bare with me ok?

I’ve always loved creative writing and excelled in languages whilst at High School – like any teenager I had big, BIG dreams to make it in the BIG, BAD, world. Sometimes things just don’t work out the way we want them to – and I’m OK with that. But here I am and after much deliberation I’m taking the steps to overcome my fatal fear of rejection and I’ll be letting loose on this blog, albeit an anonymous one.  

 So, why “Sunflower Seed”? Well, because Jesus is the Son of God, and also the light of the world. Sunflowers are peculiar in the way that they always face the sun and change the direction of their bloom to follow the sun. In the same sense I strive to change the direction in which I bloom so as to never lose sight of my guiding light. And, well, seeds can be planted and grown, if taken care of properly. SO there you have it – Sunflower Seed.

Throughout this blog I aim to tell my story, to include pieces of my past, my present and my hopes for the future and to ultimately share my journey along the straight and narrow. In South Africa we have this phrase: “how do you eat an elephant?” and the answer is “piece by piece”. Not that we actually eat elephants this side, but it just references that you need to solve obstacles and take on life’s challenges step by step. And that’s exactly what I plan to do.
